Description
In 1894, Anne Longfellow Pierce, who lived in the Wadsworth-Longfellow House on Congress Street in Portland, added running water to her kitchen, but she never furnished the house with a bathroom or water closet.
In order to take a bath, the family used this tin tub that could be filled with buckets of water.
The house, where Anne and her siblings grew up, was built by her grandfather Peleg Wadsworth in 1785-1786.
