Description
This is one of at least six French olive oil bottles found during an archaeological dig of an old privy at 47 Brown Street in Portland.
The bottle has evidence of glue around the neck, suggesting it had a foil cover.
John Corey, a dry goods merchant, lived at 47 Brown Street. He bought the property there in 1850. By 1870, all of the buildings on the street were multi-family homes.
