Perfume bottle, Portland, ca. 1850

Contributed by Maine Historical Society

Description

This bottle fragment, found in an archaeological dig at 47 Brown Street in Portland, probably was sold empty for the user to fill. A stopper was used in the bottle.

It appears to have been made in a dip mold and probably was made in England.

John Corey, a dry goods merchant, built and lived in the home where the bottle was found in an old privy.
