Description
Eunice Sewall (1837-1918) wrote about teaching in Choctaw County, Alabama, in a letter to her sister Lucretia Sewall (1845-1872). Eunice Sewall had just begun her teaching job, apparently hired by the Deloach family.
Kiah B. and Lucretia Day Sewall, both natives of Maine, had lived in Mobile, Alabama, since 1839. Eunice, the only of their children born in Maine, went to school in Maine, but lived with the family in Mobile part of the time.
She discussed her students, teaching, and her living arrangements.
