Description
Naturalist Olof O. Nylander poses with photographer Delmar B. Lovejoy in Presque Isle on August 20, 1933. On September 1, 1931, the two men had traveled together to Maritime Canada to study the geology and to collect Lower-Devonian fossils. Sites include: Dalhousie, New Brunswick; Pierce Rock, Cape Gaspe; the Petite Codiac River, Bay of Chaleur; and Hillsborough. Also photographed during that trip were land and seascapes that show the spectacular high and low tides of that area.
Nylander was a self-taught naturalist with an international reputation. His collections form the core of the collections of the Nylander Museum in Caribou.
