Description
This photo shows early electric lines established on Main Street, Dixfield, where the road crosses the Webb's River Bridge from Mexico, Maine. The grist mill and Stanley Lumber Mill stand on the left, and the Tuscan Opera House, operated by the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge, is on the right.
Albion Marsh owned the grist mill, which housed the power dydamo for the mill in the cellar. Webb River provided the water to produce electricity. Mr. Marsh sold the grist mill in 1893, but retained ownership of the dynamo until the grist mill burned in 1913.
