Description
John Howard Stevens (1879-1958) painted this presentation watercolor for George F. Evans (1845-1908) in 1907.
Evans was the vice president and general manager for Maine Central Railroad, who was boarding at the Lafayette Hotel in Portland with his wife, Catherine in 1907. They contracted with the architectural firm owned by John Calvin Stevens and John Howard Stevens in Portland, to plan for this house.
This coastal home was never built, likely due to George Evans's death on January 10, 1908.
