Description
Mary Maud Webster (1824-1873) of Orono was the first wife of Israel Washburn Jr., the celebrated Civil War governor of Maine. They married on October 24, 1841 and had four children: Israel, Ada, Charles, and Anna.
Mary served as Maine's First Lady while her husband was Governor from 1861-1863. Mary Maud died in Minneapolis from typhoid fever.
