Description
A log "boom" arrives from MacMahan Island to Westport Island along the mouth of the Sheepscot River. In the boom, perimeter logs are chained to create containment for the other logs, so the logs could be moved together across Goose Rocks Passage to their destination.
Edwin Cromwell, a sawmill owner on Westport, contracted with Pejepscot Paper Company to cut timber from MacMahan Island. Here the logs are arriving from MacMahan at the south end of Westport and are being guided by Albert Lester up a loader to an awaiting truck from the paper mill. Pejepscot's forester, Lin Rideout watches the logs climb the loader with the trucker, Bill Wright, behind him.
