Description
At the turn of the nineteenth century the Biddeford area had a large and active amateur baseball scene, with teams from around York County and Maine competing regularly.
Teams were comprised of men and boys of different ages, and were organized from schools, clubs, employers and even neighborhoods.
This team from Biddeford Pool included (L-R): [Back row] Unknown; Unknown; Ben Young; Geo. Goldthwaite. [Front row] Ralph Goldthwaite, Tristram Goldthwaite, Bob Hussey, Allen Hussey. The little boy, probably the bat boy or mascot, was Web Goldthwaite.
