Description
This is an E. Joseph Leighton postcard of Long Cove, the site of a tidal saw mill. Leighton captured many images of logging and saw mills of the early twentieth century throughout Lincoln County. The mill pictured at the right was owned by several families over the years. At the time of this image, the property was probably owned by the Blanche Hilton, the widow of Scott Hilton. The Hilton house was destroyed by fire in 1906, and the saw mill was completely destroyed by the great fire of 1918.
