Description
Workers use a cant dog, or Peavey pole, to roll salvage logs on the ice at Lake Pennesseewasse in Norway, Maine. Logs were staged on the frozen lake for transport by stream to a paper mill, following the spring ice melt.
The Northeastern Timber Salvage Administration oversaw such salvage logging efforts in the aftermath of the New England Hurricane of 1938.
