Description
Charles Powers's farm was located on the north side of the West Branch of the Penobscot River just west of Schoodic Stream. George McCauslin--the earliest settler in the Schoodic area--was the original builder and owner of the farm, and Henry David Thoreau stayed there three nights on his first trip to Mt. Katahdin in 1846.
The property was later occupied by Charles Powers and subsequently sold to the Great Northern Paper Company. The impoundment known as Dolby Flowage flooded this area in 1906-1907.
