Description
Boys in a double ended skiff known as a "punt" played, while four men in a dory mended the “rim-wracked” or damaged portion of a seine net. The two men amidships worked with twine needles while the men in the bow and stern held tension on the twine.
A seine net has floats attached to the top edge and weights on the bottom edge to keep the net spread vertically in the water. A dory is employed on each end of the net to circle around a school of herring or mackerel fish.
