Description
Harrison Humphrey stood at a fish dressing table on his wharf at Deadman’s Cove on Monhegan Island. Seine nets dried behind him.
Known as a hermit, Humphrey was a fisherman and a blacksmith. He also assisted his mother, Betsey Morrow Humphrey, in tending the Monhegan Lighthouse from 1862 until 1880.
