Description
George Smith and Alonzo Pierce mended mackerel seine nets in the Horn fish house. Smith was a blind man who worked as a gardener for the John Cabot family. Alonzo Pierce's brother, William Pierce, owned the Horn fish house at this time.
The Horn fish house is one of the oldest structures on Monhegan and has been used as a gathering place for fishermen and for storing and tending gear for close to 200 years.
