Part of Westport Island's contribution to the war effort included first aid classes. Standing left to right: Jennie Cromwell, Verlie Greenleaf, Beatrice Colby; Fannie Jewett, Frances Jewett, Dorothy Dunn; unknown; Olive Knight; Ann Harrison and Maud Webber.
Kneeling left to right: Edwin Cromwell, Leston Hemore, (instructor from Boothbay Harbor), Larry Highfield and Joseph Hodgdon. Edwin Cromwell was the Chief Air Raid Warden for the town.
