Description
This map shows the towns of Lewiston, Danville and Auburn as they existed in 1851. Eight years later, the town of Danville was annexed by Auburn.
The map includes various property lines, description of commercial lots, and names of landowners, such as town treasurer and storekeeper James Lowell, who owned the town's largest taxable estate. Another notable feature is David's Mountain, which presently sits on the Bates College Campus (the college wasn't incorporated until four years after this map's publication).
