Description
Gov. Carl Milliken (center left), Portland Mayor Charles B. Clark (center right) and three naval officers, including Admiral E.W. Eberle (center) aboard a U.S. Naval ship in Portland Harbor. A naval flotilla arrived in the port of Portland during Maine Centennial Week (June 26-July 5, 1920) to commemorate Maine becoming a state. The USS Utah and USS Florida, under Admiral Eberle's command, as well as British, Japanese and Portuguese ships docked in port for the event.
