Description
The Colt family (of firearms fame) were long-time customers of the Norcross Transportation Company. The Colts regularly visited their remote private camp near Mt. Katahdin, which was best reached by train and then steamer up the Lower Lakes. In this photo, they were getting ready to embark onto the steamer, Rainbow.
Note the hand rail cart on the right hand tracks, used to transport luggage from the train station and hotel. The tracks on the left were the end of a spur line of the Bangor & Aroostook Railroad.
