Description
This wallpaper fragment was taken from Montpelier, the mansion Major General Henry Knox built in Thomaston in 1794. The patriotic design is sprinkled with mica chips, making the wallpaper glitter in candlelight. The paper was probably purchased from Boston merchant Moses Grant, according to Knox's financial records at the Maine Historical Society.
