Description
J.B. Longacre engraved this portrait of John Hancock in 1765. Boston artist, John Singleton Copley, painted the original portrait that this engraving is based upon.
This particular engraving is part of the Dr. John S. H. Fogg Autograph Collection at Maine Historical Society. Dr. Fogg, of Eliot, donated his complete set of Declaration of Independence autographs to the Society upon his death in 1893.
