Description
The "great Filene flag" was borrowed from Filene's Department Store in Boston, Massachusetts to celebrate Flag Day on June 14, 1917.
The flag was 50 feet tall and 100 feet wide, and weighed 350 pounds. It was hung on the front of the the Pepperell Manufacturing Company's building #3 to great fanfare, attended by large crowds as well as the 7th Company, Coast Artillery Corps (C.A.C.), which would depart for service at Fort Williams only two weeks later.
