Description
The Wentworth Hotel, also known as the Wentworth House, was located on Sea Road along Kennebunk Beach. The farmhouses of families like the Gooches, the Wentworths, and the Smiths served as the first lodging at Kennebunk Beach.
The people on top of a carriage are employees of the hotel; the man wearing the chef's hat was Joe Pinkney, the chef at the Wentworth for many years.
The Wentworth House continued to house summer visitors until 1982, when it was razed.
