Description
Joseph Storer, Esquire built the Storer Mansion in 1758; it was the first house in Kennebunk to be painted.
Joseph Storer's sons, Joseph and Clement, inherited the property. Joseph and his wife Priscilla lived in Kennebunk and added to the original front portion of the Mansion in 1800. Joseph was a farmer, storekeeper and mill man before becoming postmaster of Kennebunk he was later appointed collector of the customs, a position he held for 16 years.
During the Storers’ ownership, President James Monroe and the Marquis de Lafayette visited the Mansion.
