Description
Jaden Li Eung immigrated from Cambodia to Maine. At the University of Southern Maine, Eung turned the pain of her immigrant experience into activism as the founder of the campus’s first Asian Association & Symposium, a member of the student senate, and an advocate for homeless youth. Once on the verge of homelessness herself, she now expresses a driving determination to help others going through what she went through during the years her family chased, but failed to capture, the American dream.
“In my family, we don’t talk much about our past. It hurts. Part of my American life is to talk about it and honor it,” said Eung in 2009.
