Description

Teamster Clarence Glidden stood in the middle of Main Street, Coopers Mills, with a load of pressed hay on a platform wagon. Pressed hay was loose hay compressed by equipment and then manually bound with wire or cord.

Clarence bought the former Charles F. Achorn homestead (on the other side of the wagon) in 1921 and converted the barn to an automotive garage. It was still operating as Glidden's Garage when it burned in February 1967.
