Description
The Gannett newspapers of Portland put a major focus on local Maine news. This “Maine-First” policy meant that many articles and photos focused on local topics of interest such as Maine products and people.
In the warmer months of the year, the Portland Evening Express often included pictures of Maine seafood for local flavor.
