Description

Large families were common in the mid-nineteenth century, as reflected by this ambrotype of a father, a mother, and their three sons and three daughters. A small tintype portrait of young man was inserted under preserver. If the boy portrayed in the tintype was of age, it is possible he was taking part in the Civil War when this photo was taken.
