Description

Lottie T. Colby (1889-1919) described this picture of the H. T. Weeks & Co. store to Mr. Ralph B. Douglass (1877-1961) of Bangor in July 1910: "This is where I work. It is fine dandy. When are you coming home again. I have not been to the corner only once since you were here. L. T. C." Both Lottie and Ralph were single in 1910.

On the reverse of the postcard Lottie wrote: "Dear Friend Ralph: - I think you did well to write me a letter I will send this card right back It was such a surprise. I was sorry I did not see you the last time you was at home but could not help it. The other fellow has all gone up have not seen him for ages never mind I am living yet. Pleas ans. my card. I will write soon."

Lottie married Samuel D. Clark in 1914; she died of influenza five years later. Ralph married Mattie E. Staples (1879-1932) of Bangor in 1916.

When Ralph's father, James A. Douglass, Town Clerk of Whitefield, resigned in 1923, Ralph became Town Clerk and served until 1951.
