Description
Commander Donald MacMillan far left, General Adolphus Greely, third from left, radio inventor Hiram Percy Maxim, second from the right, and Maine Governor Percival Baxter, far right, stood on the Wiscasset Customs House steps during the farewell exercises for the MacMillan Arctic Expedition on June 23, 1923. The Portland Sunday Telegram and the Portland Evening Express contained several articles about the send-off ceremonies on June 24, 1923, although this picture was not used.
