Description
Skaters of all ages enjoyed skating on the pond at Deering Oaks, a 55 acre public park in Portland. This picture is similar to one that ran in the December 27, 1924 issue of the Portland Evening Express.
Gannett Publishing Company newspapers in Maine, such as the Portland Press Herald and Portland Evening Express focused on local news and featured a large number of photos. Pictures like this highlighted seasonal activities, particularly around the holidays.
