Medway Ferry, ca. 1900

Description

The Medway Ferry, officially known as the East Branch Ferry, crossed the Penobscot River. The ferry was necessary for the transportation of food, animal feed, and agricultural supplies the people of Millinocket and Medway depended on for daily life. By 1910, the ferry was replaced by a bridge.
