Description
In late May of 1927, the Maine Central Railroad offered special excursion trips to Montreal, Quebec by a scenic route through the White Mountains. Tickets began at $10, which is the equivalent to $140 in 2018.
1927 marked the beginning of Montreal's first "skyscraper era" as construction began on the Royal Bank Tower, the Sun Life Building, and the Aldred Building, all over ten stories high. Montreal was also a popular destination in the early 1920s as prohibition began.
