Description
This copper weathervane, modeled on a classic 4-6-2 steam engine, was made in Washington Works Inc., Boston, in about 1900. The weathervane was a widely recognized landmark atop the Oakfield Yard's 95-foot tall water tank until 1979.
It was rehabilitated in the Derby Shop, Milo. The Oakfield Yard workers were determined to keep this symbol of the yard in Oakfield.
The weathervane is now on display in the Oakfield Railroad Museum. The weathervane is visible in MMN #10443.
