Description
This small clipping outlines a new favorite summer drink of the "Portsmouth Journal" editor (Portsmouth, New Hampshire). The beer recipe provided instruction for creating the yeast to use as an ingredient.
It was common in the 19th and early 20th centuries for newspapers to reprint social stories and anecdotes, as well as national news, from other newspapers both in and out-of-state. While no date can be ascribed, the reverse of the clipping includes a small remnant of the "Portland Transcript" mast head, identifiable by its font.
