Description
A cased daguerreotype of Charles H. Baker of Norridgewock. Baker presented this daguerreotype to Mary, Lucia and Lizzie, three of his friends from Palmyra, before he left for California, likely in search of gold. An inscription inside the case reads, "May 16, 1855. Tomorrow I am to send this picture to my friends in Palmyra. I am to start for California next Friday and may never return. C.H.B."
