Description
In November 1997, Maine voters passed a statewide referendum approving the widening of a section of the Maine Turnpike between York and South Portland, the most heavily traveled section of the highway.
On May 9, 2000 the Maine Turnpike Authority broke ground on the widening and modernization program. A five-year, 30 mile, and $135 million project.
