Description
Governor Percival P. Baxter, who served as the governor of Maine from 1921-1925, was an avid outdoorsman who specifically enjoyed to go on fishing trips throughout the state. Because of his enjoyment with outdoors, Baxter State Park, located in the central region of Northern Maine, was named after him.
