Description
Gluscabe (also spelled Glooscap, Gluskabe, Klooscap) is the main figure in Wabanaki creation histories. He taught the Wabanaki how to make tools, how to live, and showed them ways to understand and respect the land, the water, and all living things.
E.W. Moore made this drawing, one of five in a bound sketchbook, copying prehistoric rock art on the banks of the Kennebec River, near Embden. The rock art is about 900-1200 years old.
The inscription on this drawing notes: "First figure from the shore, Indian Ledge, size 11 x 12".
