Description
An aerial shot of the construction site for the Portland Press Herald auxiliary building. The Portland Press Herald newspaper was based out of the Gannett Building on the corner of Congress and Exchange Street (now the Press Hotel), and extra space was needed to house auxiliary press equipment and a new mailing room. The auxiliary building was erected across the street from the Gannett building (on Congress Street). Though the building has since been torn down, at the time it was a vital component to the successful circulation of the newspaper.
