Description
In 1969, Maine Medical Center completed its centennial construction project: a tower which came to be known as the Richards Wing. To accommodate this tall structure at the rear of the existing campus, the property occupied by the Bramhall Street Reservoir was purchased from the city and filled in to provide parking for 260 cars. The Alida Leese nursing residence, which had housed nursing students since the early 1900s, was razed to make space.
