Description
This wadded mulberry taffeta coat-dress is associated with the Leavitt family of Eastport. It may have belonged to Harriet Lamphrey Leavitt, who married Benjamin Leavitt in 1824, and died in 1840.
The very full gigot (aka "leg of mutton") sleeves are emblematic of fashions straddling the 1830 to 1835 period.
