Description
This self-woven, floral and stripe patterned dress was originally from the collections of the Victoria Mansion in Portland. Victoria Mansion transferred it to the Maine Historical Society in 1999.
The pleating and ruching of the bodice, coupled with the fullness of the skirt, accentuate the look of a slim waist desired by fashionable Victorian-era women. Twelve brass hooks and eyes fasten the dress at the back.
