Description
In 1864, James McCarty, acting as agent for the town, transferred a building previously owned by him and known as the "Music Hall" to the Methodist Episcopal Church.
Renovations to the building included pews and a raised pulpit. They raised money for these renovations by selling pews. This church became known as the "Center Church" or the "Community Church". In 2002, the National Register of Historic Places listed Westport Community Church.
Silas Bailey, Jr., the grantee in this deed was a mariner and farmer on Westport who lived on the east shore of the Island.
