Description
Almira "Myra" Bradeen (1865-1949) married Melville H. Philpot (1866-1950) of Limerick on April 25, 1894. The couple lived in Limerick, where they operated a family farm. The Maine Historical Society's collections include both the wedding dress and the groom's suit.
The bride's outfit consists of a bodice, skirt and a separate underskirt. The bodice and skirt are made from a sheer white fabric, with small pink, blue or yellow flower sprigs. Peach satin ribbon accents the bodice and skirt, with a knotted bow effect. The voluminous sleeves are indicative of 1890s trends.
