Description
This peach silk and rayon, full length georgette evening dress is associated with Adeline (Bond) Rines of Portland. Mrs. Rines is said to have worn this dress to the wedding of her daughter Mary to Philip P. Thompson in 1941. The dress features machine lace detailing and the same striking wide panel of machine lace inset at the waist.
Mrs. Rines was the wife of Henry Rines, founder of Maine Broadcasting System. In addition to broadcasting and hotels, the Rines Family is remembered for their sartorial contributions to Portland, with the late 19th / 20th century department store, "Rines Bros."
