Description
This plum-colored wool suit exemplifies the chunky square styling popular in late 1942 and in 1943, often seen in Hollywood. The three-piece suit includes a skirt, blazer, and cape.
The skirt has three wide stitched pleats in the front and back and fastens with a side zipper and hook-and-eye closure. The hem is finished with stitched ribbon, and the waist has interior straps.
The blazer, with strong shoulders and three self-covered buttons, features long sleeves with decorative cuffs, exterior pockets, and a silk lining. The cape, with arm slits, top-side pockets, and a Chinese knot collar, is lined with mauve rayon and features scalloped interior pockets.
