Description
A three piece powder-blue suit, from the late 1940s or early 1950s, includes a dress, belt and caplet. Scalloped edges on the collar and the front of the dress create special detailing. The dress sleeves fasten with three snaps at each wrist. A matching removable cape and belt completes the ensemble.
The presence of shoulder pads is more a hallmark of the 1940s rather than the 1950s, but the skirt's silhouette evokes a later feel. The wool and rayon ensemble is associated with Lucille Atkinson Baker (1892-1976), an author and lecturer on East Asian culture.
