Description
This chippendale style side chair is purported to be a dining room chair used by General Henry Knox at his Thomaston mansion, Montpelier. The leather seat is probably original. It was purchased by Fisher Gay of Rockland at the auction of the Knox estate in 1854, and passed down to members of his family until it was donated to Montpelier.
